Monday, February 25th, 2008A fusion of poetry and film – the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival is once again
calling for entries
Submissions are now being accepted for the fourth ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival
Previous press comments on the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival have praised the diversity of the films
and the high level of entertainment they offer. Against the background of these positive reviews,
the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin and interfilm Berlin are once again calling for entries for the ZEBRA
Poetry Film Festival, an biannual competition that recognises the best in poetry filmmaking, now in
its eighth year.
Short films based on poems can be submitted. A programme commission will decide which entries
will be shown during the fourth ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival, taking place in Berlin from 9 to 12
October 2008, an international jury deciding the winner. Prizes worth a total of EUR 10,000 will be
awarded. The deadline for entries is 16 June 2008 (full entry conditions at
www.literaturwerkstatt.org
).The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival has established itself as an international forum for short films that
deal with the content, aesthetics or form of poems. It gives filmmakers from around the world the
opportunity to exchange ideas and develop new contacts.
The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival is a cooperation project between the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin and interfilm Berlin and is
kindly supported by the Capital Cultural Fund and the Goethe-Institut. It takes place as part of the poesiefestival berlin.

Choir Singers Needed
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008Calling All Choir Singers!
There is a choir called “Bella Voce” that meets every Tuesday at the ISSP at 6pm for 1.5 hours. The choir sings a variety of songs contemporary and classical and has two performances during the year, one in May and the other in December (with practice hiatus over both summer (Northern and Southern) periods). The choir is made up of a variety of nationalities and is very casual and doesn’t demand a musical background or experience – just enthusiasm for singing.
The choir is currently a few sessions into its first practice for the year but it is in great need of new blood – especially male singers!
So if you are interested or know of anyone that would be interested, please drop us an email.

Tim Says: Deuces Wild
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008Hope you ate a few delicious, fluffy cakes of the panned variety today in this attempt by Big Pancake (with the close collaboration of Big Maple Syrup) to promote the industry. If you happen to be in Chicago in the near future, go see Dorothy at The Ohio House on Ohio and Wells St.. The days of this shady, hourly motel from the 50′s surrounded by skyscrapers and Excalibur are clearly numbered, but its Deuces Wild with two pancakes, two strips of bacon, four eggs, and two cups of coffee for $2.25 is delightful. Beware of Dorothy though, as she’s been known to coax customers back into the hotel for a little extra cookin.

An Asian Festival of Inclusive Arts (see attached flier for specific event info!)
23rd February – 1st March 2008
Phnom Penh – Siem Reap
For the first time ever, disabled and able-bodied artists from across Asia come together in Cambodia to present an exciting festival of performance, film, workshops, music and visual arts with a SPOTLIGHT on the abilities of all people.
This 8 day arts extravaganza, will celebrate the talent and diversity of not only Asian culture, but also the human spirit. “This isn’t about putting disabled people up on the stage. This is about changing the way people perceive disability” says Hannah Stevens speaking on behalf of Epic Arts.
Funded by The Nippon Foundation and produced by Epic Arts, SPOTLIGHT is a world standard, multi-arts program which will provide powerful role models for people with disabilities. By involving the international community, the aim is to build opportunities and networks for artists with disabilities within the region, through workshops, collaborations and shared experiences.
Festival events will take place in partnership with local disability and art organisations and venues including Chaktomuk Theatre, Chenla Theatre, Metahouse and with strong support from Centre Culturel Francais and Bophanana Audiovisual Centre. In Siem Reap SPOTLIGHT has partnered with Handicap International Belgium, The Art House, The Giant Puppet Project and Raffles Grand Hotel D’Angkor.
With an exciting array of art and artists from Cambodia and neighboring counties; Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and even as far afield as Japan and Nepal, at SPOTLIGHT there is something for everyone.
All events are FREE!
“See Ability Not Disability”
Epic Arts was founded in 2001 in the UK and is a registered International NGO.
